Vita (engl.)
Claudia Birkholz, born in Bremen, devotes herself primarily to contemporary music, concentrating her efforts more and more on the discovery and performance of the newest works of contemporary composers.
Many works have already been composed for her, by Marko Ciciliani, Donnacha Dennehy, Burkhard Friedrich, Hans Joachim Hespos, Hans Otte, among others. The internationally renowned composer Hans Otte attributes to her "A great sense of tone and an absolutely convincing ability of creative expression". It is clear by the conception of her programs that Claudia Birkholz moves in new dimensions, pianistically, musically and artistically. She stages her entrances with unconventional works from composers who often come from the "performance" scene, like John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Meredith Monk, etc.
Her joy in experimentation along with a high standard of intellectual content and the ability to sensitize the audience to unusual acoustic experiences in ever-changing combinations make her concerts a real adventure.
Claudia Birkholz develops her own "performances" in projects together with artists of other disciplines, enabling her to present the whole spectrum of her ability and artistic personality. Since 2002 Claudia Birkholz has begun to devote more of her time to composing and performing her own works.
Whether on the keys, inside the piano, on the toy piano or through some other source of tone or sound, "she not only has the entire range of shadings at her fingertips, but also and above all, the ability to recreate visions for the audience".
